A FUND-RAISING page set up to for the owners of The Farm Shop in Ombersley which was completely destroyed by fire has raised more than £2,000 in less than 24 hours.
The GoFundMe page was started by Georga Duncan-Price who wanted to raise some funds for owner Brett, his family and employees so they could have enough money for living costs and maybe even get the business back up-and-running.
She wrote on Facebook: “My friend’s life, business, everything is currently up in flames and I feel powerless, there’s nothing I can do to help him.”
She urged people to give what they can, even if it was £1.
She described Brett as a ‘pillar of the community’ and added many local residents would be devastated at the loss of their local farm shop.
Brett posted on the business’s Facebook page saying he feared the Farm Shop would struggle to reopen.
He added: “I’m totally gutted. Me and the team tried so hard to make the shop great and I believed we finally did it again.”
He later posted a thank you to the shop’s loyal customers, thanking them for all their kind messages and support.
We reported yesterday how eight fire crews battled the blaze for several hours after it broke out on Saturday afternoon.
