Free parking to continue at Droitwich car parks in bid to support traders

Droitwich Editorial 19th Apr, 2021   0

FREE parking will continue at all of Wychavon District Council’s car parks, including those in Droitwich, until May 3.

From May 4, the authority will reintroduce parking for 50p for all 30 minute stays.

This, along with a new ‘buy one hour, get one free’ offer, will run until September 5.

Charges will go back to how they were before the pandemic the day after.

The aim is to support traders which have reopened as well as providing more time for people visiting the town centre.

Parking restrictions, including waiting times in on-street parking bays and double yellow lines, still apply and will be enforced.

Chief executive at the council, Vic Allison, said: “Providing free parking is just one way we are supporting residents and businesses to get back to what we love safely.

“We continue to encourage everyone to follow government guidelines to stop the spread of Covid-19.”
