A MULTIPLE car crash in Droitwich left four people needing hospital treatment, including two who were in their 80s. In total, five people were hurt in the smash which happened about 3.35pm on Wednesday (June 24) and left all four cars wrecked. The two elderly people were treated for chest injuries and minor cuts at the scene, outside the Travelodge Hotel on Rashwood Hill. They were taken to Redditch’s Alexandra Hospital. A woman in her 30s, driving the second car, was treated for cuts to her face whilst the passenger, a woman in her 60s, suffered neck and chest injuries. She was immobilised before the pair were both taken to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital by the same ambulance. A fifth patient, a man from a third car, was assessed and discharged at scene. A West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) spokesman said everyone involved was lucky to have escaped without more serious injuries considering the speed of the road. He added: “Crews arrived to find four cars with significant damage and four patients, all of whom were conscious throughout and had managed to free themselves from their vehicles.”
