Former Droitwich mayor's chosen charities boosted by civic fundraising

IT WAS a successful civic year for the former mayor of Droitwich who helped raise over £7,000 for her three chosen charities.

Droitwich Spa Town councillor, Kate Fellows, who was the town’s mayor for the 2023/24 civic year managed to raise the commendable sum through her civic duties.

The funds were given to Droitwich Spa CVS, the 2516 Droitwich Squadron Royal Air Force Cadets, and the Droitwich Fire Cadets from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service.

Droitwich CVS received £3,185 while the other two charities received £2,000 each respectively.

The three cheques were accepted on their behalf by Tonia Enderbury BEM (chief executive officer Droitwich CVS), flight lieutenant Paul Wilde (RAFAC) and Dan Birch (HWFRS Fire Cadet instructor).

Flight lieutenant Wilde said: “The Air cadets would like to thank Councillor Kate Fellows – past Mayor, for choosing us as one of her charities and through her hard work we now have £2000 for new equipment for the squadron.”

Tonia Enderbury BEM from Droitwich CVS wanted to thank Kate and her consort Derek for their amazing fundraising this past year.

“Also, for helping to spread the word about the good work local groups and charities are doing across Droitwich,” added Tonia. “We will be putting our donation towards a new Community Transport wheelchair accessible vehicle.”

Dan Birch said the Droitwich Fire Cadets are ‘incredibly grateful’ to councillor Kate Fellows for her ‘continued support.’

He added: “Through Kate’s hard work we have received £2000 which will go towards supporting the young people within the Fire Cadets”.
