A BOY is running 20 miles in five days to raise funds for the NHS staff and volunteers who are caring for Coronavirus patients
Freddie Twiselton, who is just five years old and from Wychbold, began his quest on Monday and has been running 20 laps of his estate – which his parents worked out for him equated to four miles – each day.
Yesterday he had already completed 40 of his 100 laps and will be continuing his run today, tomorrow and Friday, when he plans to reach the finish line.
His dad Luke said: “We have been going out for walks and as we were on one of them he said he wanted to do something for charity and came up with the idea of a run.
“He told us he wanted to ‘beat the nasty bug so he could go back to school and play with his friends again’.”
Freddie was also inspired into fund-raising after seeing his friend Hugh Brogan, also from Wychbold, who the Standard covered three weeks ago.
He read all of the Mr Men books in one day to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House.
Luke added: “He would love people to help raise as much as he can. for the cause.”
His target was initially set at £30 but he has so far had more than £700 pledged and now wants to raise as much as he can.
