FIREFIGHTERS have been battling a blaze on a grass verge at the side of the M5 motorway.
The incident happened earlier this afternoon (Friday) off the southbound carriageway, near to Junction 5 (Droitwich).
One fire crew from Droitwich and one from Worcester were sent to the scene and it took 20 minutes for them to extinguish the blaze.
A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service Service said with incidents such as this, engines are put on both sides of the carriageway.
She added that because it was a grass fire, it generated a lot of smoke and led to a lot of calls from those using the motorway.
