Fire service free man trapped after Upton Warren car crash

A MAN had to be cut from his vehicle after a serious crash in Upton Warren between a car and a lorry left him trapped.

Calls were made from Webbs Garden Centre to West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) about 11.25pm last night (Tuesday).

Four people were involved in the incident on the Worcester Road, A38.

Three of them escaped without injury but fire crews – one from Droitwich and one from Redditch – had to use hydraulic equipment to free the trapped man in an operation which took around half-an-hour.

He was then taken to the Alexandra hospital with a suspected broken collar bone.

WMAS confirmed it sent out one ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and a paramedic area support officer.

A representative from South Worcestershire Police tweeted it was a lucky escape for them all and it was amazing the injuries were not more serious, adding the ‘occupants need to put a lottery ticket on’.
