COUNTY estate agency Nicol & Co has made an enthusiastic start to 2021 by moving into new offices in Malvern which has created five jobs.

The company bought the freehold to the former Court Road Bakery on Court Road, Barnards Green, and has redeveloped the property into modern offices for sales, lettings and new homes activity in the area.

This has now become Nicol & Co’s third base in the county with fine views looking up toward the Malvern Hills and plenty of parking nearby for staff and clients.

The team based in the office includes sales manager Erica Hinwood, sales consultant Charlotte Rowe and client relationship specialist Hannah Sheppard, with another two staff currently being recruited.

Nicol & Co’s operations in Malvern began six months ago from its Worcester base while the new offices were being converted and this has already led to plenty of successful business in the area.

Matt Nicol, managing director of Nicol & Co, said: “We’re thrilled to have finally moved into our new offices in the lovely town of Malvern.

“It was always my intention to open three offices in key locations in Worcestershire, and Malvern is now the final piece in the jigsaw that adds to our branch network in Droitwich and Worcester.

“The new Malvern office has been almost two years in the making from when we first spotted the premises, and there were lots of challenges along the way, but we remained optimistic and excited about the opportunity.

“Nicol & Co brings energy and enthusiasm to every market it operates in and now, with over 40 employees, the company is well placed to serve the whole of Worcestershire.”

Mr Nicol explained how the company, while needing to upgrade the premises, had made efforts to conserve elements of the frontage to the former bakery which many local people have fond memories of.

Sympathetic changes have been made including renewing the Victorian awning on the front and retaining some of the building’s other historical features.

He added: “A former bakery employee was brought to tears when she saw the improvements we have made, and the daughter and granddaughter of the 1970s owners wished us well on our Facebook post and are trying to locate old pictures for us to use in some way.”
