AN ELDERLY man was viciously assaulted as he walked through a Droitwich alleyway.
It happened on Sunday (December 14) when the man, who is in his 70s, was in Fox Alley which runs between Vines Park and Vines Lane.
He was approached by a black Staffy cross mastif which was jumping up at him.
When he asked the owner to put the dog on the lead, he was punched in the face without warning.
As he fell to the floor, he was kicked by the attacker, who was white, in his 30s, about 6ft tall and of stocky build.
He was wearing a woolly hat and a three-quarter length dark coloured coat.
The black staffy cross mastif was about knee high with a broad chest.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said it was an unprovoked attack on an elderly man by one who was much younger.
And, he added, that type of behaviour would not be tolerated in Droitwich.
He urged any witnesses or anyone with any information to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Alternatively, visit www.crimestoppers-uk.org and convey the information there.
Luckily the elderly man only suffered minor injuries, but he was shaken by his ordeal.
