WESTACRE Middle School hosted an event to promote Safer Internet Day which raises awareness of the safe use of digital technology for young people, writes Eve Watson.
The middle school joined forces with ‘digital leaders’ from Ombersley First School, sharing ideas to promote online safety.
Westacre, as an IT Centre of Excellence, held the event and supported the younger children from Ombersley who had recently set up their own digital leader group.
Allison Underhill from Westacre and Daniel Postans from Ombersley organised the day which included the creation of a short film using iMovie software.
Mrs Underhill said: “Today has been a wonderful opportunity for our more experienced Cyber Council to share their learning with Ombersley.
“Together we looked at resources we like to use in school, the variety of roles and responsibilities we undertake as Cyber Council, but mainly the importance of promoting e-safety across school.
“We look forward to continue promoting our e-safety message.”
Safer Internet Day takes place today.
