Droitwich's Norbury Theatre postpones its Snow White panto due to Omicron uncertainty

DROITWICH’S Norbury Theatre has postponed its annual pantomime until February due to the uncertainty caused by the Omicron variant of Covid-19.

Traditionally, the Norbury Players put on their panto in January and were due to take to the stage with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

But after reviewing the safety protocols for visitors and, whilst awaiting further instructions from the Government, theatre bosses have decided to delay the opening until February 18.

Performances will take place at 7.30pm on February 18 and 19 (Friday and Saturday) and 2.30pm matinees on February 19 and 20.

The following week’s performances will be at 7.30pm from February 24 to 26 with 2.30pm matinees on February 26 and 27.

And the final week will see performances at 7.30pm on March 3, 4 and 5 and a matinee on March 5.

In a statement, the theatre said: “Considering the current rate of infections, we have taken a proactive approach rather than a reactive one.

“We sincerely hope that you understand and fully support the reasons as to why.

“We are committed to putting the safety of our members, friends, patrons, and company first, along with the financial consequences that this virus has created and continues to do so.”

There may be further alterations to scheduled programmes due to cancellations and postponements.

The theatre relies heavily on the income generated from ticket sales for productions and cinema screenings and remains eternally grateful for your continued support.

In the first instance the Norbury will be transferring all tickets booked to the new show dates (above).

People unable to attend the night of the week they had initially booked for can exchange your ticket to another performance.

Tickets remain valid for the rescheduled show week.

Those not wanting to attend can claim a refund. If bought through TicketSource, people need to email [email protected] and provide their name, booking reference and state they are requesting a refund due to the event being postponed.

Those who have booked directly via the Box Office can call 01905 770154 to arrange any exchange.

The Theatre Council at the Norbury Theatre said: “As mentioned before, your support is vital to the survival of our lovely little theatre, and we hope to count on your understanding through these extremely challenging times.

“We are confident that with your support and the dedication of our members and friends, we will soon be back doing what we love best; performing!”
