A DROITWICH youth worker has been jailed three years and four months for child sex offences.

Phillip Poke, 23, of St Richards Gardens, was found guilty of ‘grooming’ a 13-year-old boy for sex at Worcester Crown Court on Wednesday (June 25).

The court heard between June 2012 and January 2013 Poke had built up a relationship with the boy and had spoken in a sexually explicit ways online before meeting him in person and engaging in sexual acts.

DC Sarah Wood, who investigated the case, said: “We will continue to take crimes of this nature very seriously and believe the sentencing sends a very clear message.

“This offender was in a position of trust and he abused the position to build up an inappropriate relationship with a teenager.

“We will continue to do all we can to protect children and young people who are at risk.”
