FIREFIGHTERS, support staff and members of the public from across the county have received prestigious awards from Hereford and Worcester Fire Service.
The accolades were presented by Lt Col Patrick Holcroft LVO OBE, the Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire, as the Queen’s representative, The High Sheriff of Worcestershire, Sir Anthony Winnington Bt, Chief Fire Officer Mark Yates and the vice-chairman of the Fire Authority, Coun Roger Phillips.
Among those to be recognised were Droitwich Watch Commander Andrew Birch and Bromsgrove firefighter Wayne Berry – they were both in he list for The Fire Brigade’s Long Service and Good Conduct Medals, for those who have given more than 20 years meritous service.
Wayne Berry also picked up a Chairman’s Certificate of Commendation which is aimed at recognising those who have made a substantial contribution to the work and aims of the Fire Authority, had a significant impact on community safety or helped deliver work of outstanding innovation.
And the top young firefighter award went to Jordan Laugher who is a member of the Droitwich branch of the Young Firefighters Association. He was presented with The High Sheriff’s Award for the amount of determination and enthusiasm he has demonstrated.
Chief Fire Officer Mark Yates said: “I was thrilled and extremely proud to once again play a part in the annual Worcestershire Medal and Awards Ceremony which celebrates the outstanding talents and commitment of our staff.
“Each reward was truly well-deserved and I would like to publicly thank each recipient for their on-going passion, dedication and professionalism.”
