Droitwich ward candidates named for Wychavon elections

THE CANDIDATES have been revealed for this year’s local elections, with 45 seats being contested across Wychavon District.

In Bowbrook, Conservative Mel Bates will go up against Liberal Democrat Margaret Rowley and in Dodderhill, there will be a similar two-way fight – there Tory Hugh Hamilton will face Lib Dem Peter Evans.

In Droitwich Central, Labour’s Alan Humphries, Lib Dem Becky Littlechild, Conservative Roy Murphy and UKIP’s Neil Whelan will be vying for the seat.

In Droitwich East, Droitwich West, Droitwich South East and Droitwich South West, there will be two seats for each ward.




The East will be contested by Conservatives Bob Brookes and Glenise Noyes, Labour’s Sheila Neary, Lib Dem David Rowe and UKIP’s Andy Morgan.

In the South East, there will be two Conservatives – Richard Morris and Maureen Lawley, two Liberal Democrats – Bob Crawford and Adrian Key, Labour’s Steve Ainsworth, Green Party candidate Robert Burkett and UKIP’s Charlotte Townsend.


In the South West, there will be Conservatives Graham Beale and Tom Noyes, Liberal Democrats Wendy Carter and John Littlechild, Labour’s Bill Baker, the Green Party’s Jane Zurek and UKIP’s Yuleen Jewell.

And in Droitwich West, there will be two Conservatives – Catherine Powell and Jan Bolton and two Labour candidates – Jacqui O’Reilly and Eve Freer, along with Green Ann Bennett.

In Lovett and North Claines, Conservatives Lynne Duffy and Tony Miller will face independent Nigel Addison and Liberal Democrat Rory Roberson for two seats.

And in the Ombersley ward, Liberal Democrat Judith Cussen will do battle with Peter Tomlinson.

The vote will take place on May 7, at the same time as the general election.
