Droitwich volunteers revisit River Salwarpe to clear yet MORE litter

DROITWICH Spa Litter Squad revisited the River Salwarpe on Sunday after several more items were thrown into the river.

It came after the team had removed more than a dozen items from the area only days before.

On revisiting the river and the A38 they found an abandoned trolley, car tyre, scooter and 15 bags of litter.

Volunteer Karen Blanchfield said: “As am ambassador for Keep Britain Tidy, I meet so many inspirational individuals who just want to clean up and get the job done.

“The Droitwich Spa Litter squad team embody that. Their efforts are making an impact, especially along the A38, as this road has definitely seen less littering week on week. “Wychavon District Council’s support to the litter picking groups is brilliant as they will collect all this rubbish from where the volunteers leave it and ensure it is deposed of correctly and off our community streets.

“I personally had so much fun with the group – they are a great bunch of like-minded members who take pride in their community.”
