Droitwich urged to decorate homes and hold picnics and barbecues for 75th VE Day anniversary

DROITWICH Royal British Legion is hoping people across the town will mark the 75th VE Day anniversary, despite its planned commemoration having to be cancelled.

The organisation is also urging people to decorate the front of their homes for May 8 and hold picnics or barbecues – as long as it is with members of their household, so they do not breach the Government’s coronavirus guidelines.

The Droitwich RBL also wants people to submit photographs so they can be used on its website.

Branch chairman Alan Humphries said: “I was saddened the planned events had to be cancelled and that there will be no service at the memorial but we feel this is an excellent alternative so the occasion and what Droitwich did for it can be recorded for future records.”

Any pictures and information can be emailed to [email protected] and [email protected] and those submitting them need to give permission for items to be used.
