Droitwich trio in the running for awards today

THREE Droitwich finalists nominated for the Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards are preparing for the event of a lifetime at the Tree Tops Pavilion, Safari Park on Thursday (November 12).

Paul Breakspear is a contender for the Traineeship of the Year category, sponsored by Vestia Community Trust.

The young upstart’s training provider said he was ‘inspirational in his motivation which inspired other learners in his group.’

Paul’s self-esteem and confidence has led to an apprenticeship with an outdoor leisure supplier and is now studying for a level 2 Apprenticeship in Warehousing.




Meanwhile, Droitwich firm, Print Strategy hopes to win the Small Apprenticeship Employer of the Year, sponsored by AiB.

And finally, Omerod Rutter (chartered accountant) hopes to fly through in t he Medium Apprenticeship Employer of the Year category, sponsored by eResponse Recruitment.


The awards will be hosted by broadcaster, Steph McGovern.

Gary Woodman, executive director of Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “We’ve had some excellent entries.

“The county has seen a huge growth in apprenticeships since 2011, with over 10,000 people now participating in an apprenticeship programme.

“I would encourage others who are interested in employing an apprentice to visit the website.”

Coun Simon Geraghty, deputy leader and cabinet member for economy, skills and infrastructure at Worcestershire County Council, said: “We are looking forward to celebrating the huge contribution the county’s apprentices make to the workplace.”

Seats at the high profile awards cost £80 and a table of 10 can be purchased for £750.
