DROITWICH Town Council is looking for a new full-time apprentice to give a young person in the town the chance to forge a career in local government.
The approach has never been done before by the authority and will see the chosen candidate be part of the town council team, working towards a qualification in business management.
It has become available thanks to support from Wychavon District Council.
A second exciting post – for a new full-time Heritage Manager at St Richard’s House – has also become available.
They will help with the day-to-day running of the heritage centre, tourist information centre and town museum, working alongside the existing Heritage Manager and volunteer team.
Mayor of Droitwich Spa, Coun Bill Moy, said: “The town council is proud to lead and offer both of these employment opportunities in the local community.
“This year is an exciting time with a lot to look forward to, coinciding with the emergence from two years of Covid-19 disruption.
“The new spring provides a feeling of optimism and a positive outlook.”
He added many new schemes and resurrected projects were moving forward at pace and there was also the resurgence of the Town Events programme.
Activities currently confirmed include the St Richards Canal Festival in May, the Sunday Band Concerts programme from May to September, The Queens Platinum Jubilee Celebrations and the Food and Drink Festival – both taking place in June – and the September Salt Fest.
Applications for the Heritage Manager post close on March 18 and applicants for the apprenticeship post are urged to apply as soon as possible.
