Droitwich to host public presentation evening to showcase ambitious plans for the Chateau Impney and Impney Estate

RESIDENTS from across Droitwich and further afield are being invited to a public presentation on the ambitious proposals for the Chateau Impney Hotel.

It is being given by Rod Spollon – the managing director of Greyfort Group which owns the Impney Estate – at 6pm on June 6 at the Droitwich Spa Community Hall on Heritage Way.

As well as the presentation, there would be a question and answer session afterwards.

The plans, now submitted to Wychavon District Council, would see the demolition of newer obsolete buildings, car parks and extensions which impinge on Impney Hall’s aesthetic beauty and reinstating historic parkland surrounding the ‘chateau’ so it is close to Salt King John Corbett’s original creation.

The historic hall would reopen as a hotel and commercial premises and many of the stand-alone buildings and hard-standing would be demolished as part of the returning parkland plan.

The green space increase will lead to a 42 per cent ‘biodiversity gain’ – almost unheard of in any planning application – and 990 per cent more hedgerow.

A sympathetic estate village – ‘Little Impney’ – of 127 properties and four new commercial premises would be created on what would have been the estate’s working area and be away and screened from the main hall.

The properties will more meet current and future national housing design and environmental standards, boasting elements such as air source heat pumps and home working space.

Originally, up to 200 homes were planned but that has been scaled back.

The public event is being hosted by Droitwich Spa Town Council but is not a DSTC meeting.

Those wanting to see the plans in full can visit wychavon.gov.uk/planning and click on ‘Search For Application’ using the reference numbers W/22/00914/FUL and W/22/00915/LB.

Residents should get to the meeting by 5.45pm.
