MEMBERS of a Droitwich youth theatre company were treated to a special workshop from a star of Sister Act The Musical.
Starbuck Theatre Company’s youth training company took part in the session at Droitwich Spa High School with Joe Vetch, who is currently touring with Sister Act The Musical as Sweaty Eddie, opposite Alexandra Burke.
Training in Droitwich every week, the youth company is set to perform its own version of the musical at The Malvern Coach House in July.
Member Charlotte Wallis, who is playing Sister Mary Robert for Starbuck, said: “Joe was incredibly inspirational.
“The fact he is playing one of the title roles from Sister Act helped immensely.
“Focusing on the characterisation of each part enabled us to develop the relationship our role has with the other characters. “
The company has lessons for students in acting and musical theatre for four to six-year-olds, seven to 13-year-olds as well as the Youth Training Company for 14 to 21-year-olds and also gives drama school training and LAMDA lessons.
Sarah Pavlovs, artistic director for Starbuck Theatre Company, said: “Here we have a group of students, some of who come for friendship and others as they want to make this their career, but all giving 100 per cent, to make professional standard productions.
“I think it’s important to not just teach them week on week, but give them tasters of the industry – from the way rehearsals are run, to bringing in excellent professionals, such as Joe, who is working in the industry, and can inspire the group even more.”
