STUDENTS at Droitwich Spa High School were celebrating yesterday as they received their long-awaited GCSE exam results.
As everyone got to grips with the a new grading system being initially trialled in English and Maths results, headteacher Natalie Waters congratulated pupils on their efforts.
She said: “In GCSE English and Maths, which the government announced some time ago it intended to make more difficult, we cannot compare the recent results with any from previous years.
“What we have concluded is that, despite these changes, our students have performed well and in line with our high expectations.”
Among the high achievers were Callum Miller-Weir received a 9 in English Literature, 9 in Maths, 7 in English Language, four A*s, three As, and one B, Maddie Henn received 9 in English Literature, 7 in Maths, 7 in English Language, three A*, five As and two Bs.
Sam Dawson got an 8 in English Literature, 6 in English Lang, 6 Maths, one A*, three As, two Bs and one C, Alex Randell received an 8 in English Language, 6 in English Literature, 8 in Maths, four A*, three As and one B.
“We are delighted to record the individual achievements of many of our young people, both in the new examinations and grading system and in the old ones,” added Ms Waters.
