A STUDENT from Droitwich was presented with her gold Duke of Edinburgh award by The Earl of Wessex and comedian Shappi Khorsandi.

Jennifer Small, who went to Droitwich Spa High School and, prior to going to university, delivered The Droitwich Standard, travelled to St James’ Palace in London to get her certificate.

Jennifer worked tirelessly through the five sections of the DofE programme over two years and her activities included volunteering at The Swan Theatre, Worcester, doing photography, dance and participating in a summer skills course with the Youth Music Theatre. She also embarked on an expedition to Snowdonia.

Throughout her DofE, Jennifer proved herself to be hard-working and creative and also received a DofE accolade at the Droitwich Spa High School awards evening at the Chateau Impney.

Jennifer said: “Being a part of DofE has certainly been the most challenging thing I have ever done, but is also one of the most rewarding.

“This experience is one that I would definitely recommend for anyone whom seeks adventure and a great challenge.”

The Earl of Wessex is, himself, a gold DofE winner and trustee of the scheme.
