Droitwich Spa Litter Squad back in force to tackle rubbish in central ward

THE DROITWICH SPA Litter Squad was back out in force on Sunday with 16 members turning out to tackle ingrained litter.

The team was split into four groups to rid Droitwich Central of rubbish which had accumulated in foliage, paths and alleways and could not be reached by road sweepers.

Each group went off in different directions, bringing their finds to two drop-off points.

By the end between 30 to 40 bags of litter had been collected in just a couple of hours.

Among some of the more unusual items were tyres, traffic cones, a rucksack and shoes.

Councillors John Hartley, Richard Morris, Nathan Griffiths and George Duffy.

Clive Sherman started the Droitwich Spa Litter Squad Facebook page earlier this year and since then it has amassed 132 members, including 53 in the past month.

Wychavon District Council has supported the group by providing equipment, including litter picking sticks, blue bags and safety gloves, to those who adopt a street to look after.
