A DROITWICH school’s PTA and junior football club has scored funding from a developer towards helping host football teams from Germany, writes Caprice Harrison.

The £1,000 donation from Persimmon Homes Ltd to The Friends of St Peter’s First School and Droitwich Spa Boys and Girls FC is for the event next year.

The visiting teams will be from Bad Ems – the German town Droitwich has been twinned with since 1983.

Kerri Moore, who applied for the funding on behalf of both groups, said: “Both groups are extremely thankful to Persimmon Homes South Midlands for the donation.

“Friends of St Peter’s First School are always looking to local businesses to contribute to the school’s ongoing projects. Donations such as these mean the school can continue to invest and improve.”

Amanda Rogers is head of sales for Persimmon Homes South Midlands which is currently building properties at Newland Lane.

She said: “We are delighted to support both groups.

“Friends of St Peter’s and Droitwich Spa FC do a lot for the local community, so we are thrilled to support them in their projects.”

The cash came from the developer’s ‘Community Champions’ scheme.
