A HUGE heartfelt thanks has gone out to everyone in Droitwich for making last Friday’s VE Day 75 celebration a memorable day, despite the challenging circumstances posed by the Coronavirus lockdown.
Alan Humphries, the chair of the town’s Royal British Legion, contacted the Standard to praise Droitwich’s wonderful residents who got involved with the festivities.
“Obviously this wasn’t the celebration we had planned or wanted but seeing the pictures of people’s decorated house and socially-distanced street parties was truly heart-warming and served as reminder of the wonderful community we have in Droitwich Spa.”
He gave special thanks to Worcester County Standard Bearer Dave Williams and Droitwich branch Standard bearers Christopher Norris and Dean Haden for the dignified, honourable and respectful way those who fell in conflict and those who returned were remembered.
“It is out intention to have a celebration more in line with what we originally planned when we are told we can and it is safe to do so and I will let you know more about this when I can.
“In the meantime, please all stay safe and well.”
