Droitwich residents urged to nominate their favourite breakfasts in the district

Droitwich Editorial 4th Feb, 2020   0

DROITWICH residents are being urged to vote for the best breakfast in the district, whether it is a filling full English, classic continental or a healthy fruit-filled extravaganza.

Worcestershire’s Vale and Spa is hosting the inaugural Favourite Breakfast Competition on Facebook and is asking residents and visitors to take their pick from the district’s best pubs, restaurants, farm shops, cafes and more.

Participants have until Friday, February 7 to nominate a venue and voting will open the following Wednesday.

People should comment on the Facebook page @ValeandSpa, with a picture of their favourite breakfast and a description of the reason why.

It follows last year’s competition where people could nominate their favourite pub – on that occasion The Angel Inn, Pershore, beat the previous year’s winners The Fleece Inn, Bretforton, in a closely fought final.

During the campaign, more than 10,000 votes were received in total, with 6,000 cast in the final.

Coun Richard Morris, Wychavon District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economic Growth and Tourism, said: “We are really excited to see some of the district’s best breakfasts.

“Nowadays, it’s not just the stereotypical full English on offer, instead there’s a variety of types served in a wealth of establishments.

“This competition will be a great opportunity to involve many more businesses than before.

“Quality local produce is a key asset to the area and will no doubt provide the ingredients to many of the tasty breakfasts.”
