DROITWICH prepares to welcome Stage Four of The OVO Energy Women’s Tour 2018, next Saturday June 16, writes Ellen Heaselgrave.
The cycling competition takes place between June 13 and 17 and features some of the best female cyclists in the world, who will visit Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Worcestercestershire, and North Wales across a five day racing event.
The fourth 81-mile stage will begin in Evesham at 10.30am, taking riders through the county, along with Gloucestershire and Warwickshire.
The competitors are predicted to arrive at Droitwich around 1.40pm, ending the race in Worcester.
Wychavon District Councillor Coun Gerry O’Donnell said: “The 2018 OVO Energy Women’s Tour is the pinnacle of women’s professional road cycling in the UK.
“The women involved are fantastic role models for budding cyclists around the country and really promote the importance of health and well-being.”
Coverage of the event and stage four highlights can be seen on ITV4 on June 16 at 8pm.
Roads on and around the race route will be closed for a period of 30 minutes – 15 minutes before the cyclists arrive and 15 minutes after.
