A RALLYING call has gone out to people who run village halls in Droitwich about special workshops organised by Wychavon District Council.

The sessions will run from 10am to midday and between 1pm and 3pm on October 20 at Wychavon Civic Centre in Pershore.

The workshops, aimed at committees, community groups, town and parish councils, will help participants learn more about how to run a successful village hall.

Among the subjects covered will be ‘understanding village halls’, how to acquire and apply for ‘finance and funding’, making village halls greener and more environmentally friendly and how to run an effective booking system.

People can attend from 10am to 3pm or for two hours in the morning or afternoon.

Coun Gerry O’Donnell, the portfolio holder for community development, culture and sport at Wychavon District Council, said: “Village and community halls are an integral part of the local community and offer people the chance to organise together for the benefit of its residents, whether it be for education, health and well-being or social and cultural activities.”

A ‘market place’ area will also be set up showcasing examples of successful community activities participants can learn from.

Email [email protected] or [email protected] for more information or book a stand.

Visit www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/EBR66/ to book a place on the workshops.

The closing date is today (Friday)
