Droitwich Methodist Church to hold special services for Women's World Day of Prayer

Tristan Harris 26th Feb, 2017   0

A SERVICE to mark Women’s World Day of Prayer will be held twice at Droitwich Methodist Church, Worcester Road, on Friday (March 3).

The first will be at 10.30am and the same service will be held again at 7.30pm.

Events will be held all over the world and the theme for the day will be ‘Am I Being Unfair to You?’

The service has been written by the Christian women of the Philippines and it has been translated into 1,000 different languages and dialect.

Globally the first ones will be held at sunrise on the Island of Samoa, continuing until the sunset off the coast of American Samoa.

In 2013 Typhoon Haiyan – named locally as ‘Yolanda’ – struck the Philippine islands in the western Pacific Ocean. This is mentioned in the service, along with storues of a girl, mother and an older woman recounting their hopes and fears.

It also focuses on the Bible story of the workers in the vineyard – Matthew 20 verses one to 16 and there is a reflection on the artwork designed by Rowena ‘Apol’ Laxamana-Sta.Rosa.

The day of prayer is not just for women – everyone is welcome. Refreshments will be served after the two Droitwich services.
