Droitwich man wins comp after identifying mystery ale

Droitwich Editorial 4th Dec, 2014 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016   0

A DROITWICH man has won a year’s free CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) membership after successfully identifying a mystery beer on sale at the town’s Gardeners Arms as part of a fund-raising contest.

James Gamble guessed correctly it was Butty Bach from the Wye Valley Brewery.

And, to present him with his prize, was Julie Allen from the Wye Valley Brewery, Paul Richards, the chairman of Redditch and Bromsgrove CAMRA, and Doug Robinson from the branch, along with Droitwich Food and Drink’s Festival organiser Patrick Davies and Simon Berry from the Gardeners Arms.

Vernon Amor, the managing director of Wye Valley, donated the half-firkin and Simon Berry donated the other half and the competition raised cash for Julie Allen’s selected charity, the Primrose Hospice.
