Droitwich Heritage Centre's 'Memory Suitcase' appeal to help bring back the good times for town's older people

AN APPEAL has been launched for items for a Droitwich Heritage Centre project which will help the town’s older people reminisce, share experiences and engage with people through their memories of the past.

Staff at the centre are creating a ‘Memory Suitcase’ which they plan to take around care homes and other venues when restriction easing allows.

Among the items they are looking for are old toys, such as Hornby trains, Corgi or Matchbox cars, model planes, soldiers, tanks and teddies.

Leisure items, such as vinyl records from the 1950s and 60s, old perfume bottles or rouge pots, nylons, hair items, pipes, cigarette tins, shaving brushes and old sports memorabilia are also being sought.

And, anything from the old Brine Baths, the Raven Hotel, the Winter Gardens or the Royal Worcestershire Hotels would also be welcomed.

Catherine Finn and Sarah Davies, joint heritage managers, said: “The people of Droitwich always rise to the challenge and we are hoping they will do so again.

“It will be a fantastic way to help our older people communicate and remember happy times.”

Items can be dropped off between 10am and 2pm Monday to Friday or 10am to 12pm on Saturday.

Alternatively, email [email protected] or call the Heritage Centre on 01905 774312.
