A DROITWICH fitness instructor will host two big fund-raising events this weekend, including a charity yoga class for Oscar Saxelby-Lee and classathon for mental health charity MIND, writes Sophie Baram.
Both events will be held by Julie Liggins at Studio 2, Physique Fitness, on Droitwich’s Berry Hill Industrial Estate, with a minimum £5 donation is requested from each participant.
The classathon, in conjunction with the town’s Verve Kickboxing, will take place between 9am and 5pm on Saturday in memory of Nicki Wismer, a former member of her fitness classes who took her own life in June last year.
“Nicki was a long term member of mine and a regular face to many classes each week. It was an absolute shock to all of us when she took her own life.
“She is very dearly missed.
“I am hosting this event for Mind because I really believe in their cause.
“The charity helps the one in four people in the UK that experience a mental health problem every year.”
Julie, along with fellow instructors Tina Donkin, Julia Potter and Emily Morgan will run 13 classes for 30 minutes each with ten minutes recovery time in between.
Among them will be Cycle, Armageddon, LBT, Yoga, Clubbercise, Boogie Bounce, Rockbox, Zumba, Hour of Power, Beatz, Kettlercise, PWR Beatz and Pound.
Julie and her team have already raised £448 but hope to raise more than £1,000.
On Sunday, October 6, the ‘Yoga for Oscar Fundraiser’ will feature lively yoga classes to help pay for Oscar’s treatment.
Sessions for four to six-year-olds will take place between 11.30am and midday with classes for seven to 11-year-olds from 12pm to 12.45pm.

Physique will continue to raise money throughout the week by running a eccentric fancy dress competition and testing people’s strengths with weight-lifting contests.
