Droitwich Community First Responders get car donated to them by Solihull's Arrive Alive

Droitwich Editorial 20th Mar, 2022   0

THE DROITWICH Community First Responders has been donated a new vehicle by Solihull charity Arrive Alive so it can reach patients quicker in an emergency.

We reported back in January about the new CFR scheme started by James MacDonald who works as a High Dependency care assistant.

James was joined by fellow first responder and student paramedic Chloe Perrin.

A fund-raising campaign was launched for equipment with the vehicle being the main priority.

The Droitwich CFRs were delighted when they were contacted by Arrive Alive.

A spokesperson said for Droitwich CFR said: “Our mission at Droitwich First Responders is providing a life-saving partnership of volunteers working with West Midlands Ambulance Service.

“As authorised volunteers the CFRs help to reduce the number of pre-hospital deaths by provide life-saving treatment to patients in the vital first few minutes of an emergency until an ambulance crew arrives.”

An Arrive Alive spokesperson said the charity was happy to help.

“An Arrive Alive vehicle can reach a 999 medical emergency in those vital seconds/minutes prior to a road or air ambulance, due to being directly based within the heart of the community.”
