Droitwich businesses 'to miss out on crucial coronavirus funding' if deadline missed

UP to 100 businesses in Wychavon could miss out on crucial coronavirus support funding with the deadline for registrations fast approaching.

The Government has set a cut-off date of August 28, 2020 for businesses to register for grant support funding.

The money was first allocated to councils in March to support small and medium-sized businesses, forced to temporarily close due to coronavirus.

Wychavon has paid out more than £30million to almost 2,600 businesses.

But, there are still many businesses out there that could benefit from the money and have not registered.

Efforts have been made to contact businesses to make sure nobody misses out, including sending letters, social media campaigns and phone calls.

If eligible companies do not register by the deadline, any unspent money will be returned to the Government.

Coun Bradley Thomas, Leader of Wychavon District Council, said: “We know this money has been a lifeline for many businesses across Wychavon.

” If your business qualifies for support funding then please register now before it is too late.

“We have made the process as quick and as simple as possible.

“I want to once again pay tribute to our staff for their magnificent effort, in getting this money paid out to where it was needed, as fast as they did.”
