Droitwich Arts Network reveals Festival schedule

Droitwich Editorial 14th Jun, 2015 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016   0

THE DROITWICH Arts Network (DAN) has been shedding some light on events which will be taking place this year as part of the annual Droitwich Festival.

Artists in residence will be at the town’s library from 10am to 4pm between next Saturday and July 3, when the library is open.

Next Saturday, there will be some theatre in the town centre – either in the garden of St Andrew’s Church or in the church itself, depending on the weather.

At 1pm, Norbury Theatre members will be performing excerpts from forthcoming musical Half a Sixpence and at 2pm there will be duologues from Droitwich Spa High School students.

Peter Hawkins, the chair of DAN, said: “This is the first year Droitwich Spa High School has been involved and it’s fantastic to welcome the students on board.”

Among the performances will be Sasha Ling as ‘Blanche DuBois’ and India-Rose Haughty as ‘Stella Kowalski’ from A Streetcar Named Desire.

Natalie Beard will be ‘Antigone’ and Chloe Badger as ‘Ismene’ will take to the stage to put on a section from Antigone – a play set in Ancient Greece.

And Josh New will be ‘Frank’ and Chloe Masters will be ‘Rita’ (‘Susan’) when they perform opposite each other during a taster of the classic Educating Rita.

At 3pm, there will be a youth theatre production which will be guaranteed to entertain the crowds.
