Special guest – Paralympian swimmer and double silver Paralympic medallist Rebecca Redfern – will be joined by Town Crier Edgar Harwood and Mayor of Droitwich Spa Coun Bill Moy to lead the plunger moment outside Lloyds Bank on Victoria Square.

From 3.15pm, there will be live entertainment, including performances from the Salvation Army Band, the Westacre Middle School Choir and i-Sing Choir.

The Community Choir’s seasonal concert takes place at St Andrews Church from 5pm and parking at all Wychavon District Council car parks will be free from 2pm.

Droitwich Lions’ popular Santa’s Grotto will be in St Richard’s House from 10am to 6pm and there will be a funfair and the Worcestershire Farmers Market in Victoria Square.

Friar Street will host traditional stalls offering seasonal gifts from 10am to 5pm, a Salvation Army Brass Band performance at 2.15pm and live entertainment from 6pm, organised by The Old Cock Inn.

Mark Keld, the Droitwich Town Council clerk, said: “We hope the events will bring the community and visitors together to celebrate the start of the Christmas season for 2021 and to enjoy the many attractions on offer.”

  • The events team will be in St Richard’s House from 12pm to 5pm next Saturday, November 27, talking to people about how they can get involved in the 2022 event. In June, 2022, the town will be challenged to fill Droitwich with red, white and blue origami flowers for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
