'Community support, dedication and kindness shown across Droitwich in 2020' - MP's Christmas message

Droitwich Editorial 25th Dec, 2020   0

I DON’T think anyone could have foreseen the events of this year.

I know many of my constituents have faced loneliness, uncertainty, loss and fear over these last months, in circumstances that seemed unimaginable just one year ago.

But I’ve also seen immense support, community, strength, dedication, generosity and kindness.

If anything, this year has taught us to appreciate the things we would have previously taken for granted and it doesn’t ring truer than at Christmas.

Although we all want to get into the Christmas spirit and enjoy the company of loved ones, Christmas and new year celebrations will inevitably be different this year.

And I know we certainly won’t take for granted the NHS workers, police officers, council workers and countless others who are working over the holidays and have worked throughout this pandemic to keep us safe.

2020 won’t be a year many of us will look back on with fondness.

But with the vaccine rolling out, we can all be more optimistic about the future and I therefore wish you all a very merry Christmas and safer and happier new year.
