STUDENTS from Witton Middle School, supported by their teacher Louise Jones, unveiled the design for the 2015 Droitwich Mural.

The reveal was done at the latest meeting of the Droitwich Arts Network on Monday (February 9).

The design’s theme is centred around the 800th anniversary of the Droitwich Charter.

Peter Hawkins, the chair of Droitwich Arts Network, said: “The children did a fantastic job, describing the context of the charter and what it meant for the town.

“They then explained what each panel in the mural represented.

“They were enthusiastic and conveyed their ideas clearly and confidently.”

The youngsters will now work with DAN members to complete the 64ft piece on the wall of Netherwich Basin on the Droitwich Canal that can be seen from Vines Park.

Residents can get involved on March 29 when the actual panels are painted and the work will be inaugurated by the mayor on May 2 as part of the St Richard’s Festival.

The mural would not be possible without the support of sponsors, including estate agent Matt Nicol and Malvern Tyres.
