A WORCESTERSHIRE brewery has teamed up with one in Ukraine to recreate one of its beers which will be sold to raise funds for refugees fleeing their homeland.
Ambridge in Inkberrow has joined forces with Lviv-based Pravda Brewery which is currently making ‘Molotov cocktail’ petrol bombs to aid its country’s defence.
John Nowacki, who is from Bromsgrove and runs Ambridge with his dad Wies, has been speaking to Pravda representatives daily and received traditional Ukraine beer recipes.
From the list he has chosen to brew Zenyk – a light five per cent abv easy-drinking ale, brewed using saaz hops which provide a fantastic aroma.
The brewing process will begin on Tuesday, meaning it will be ready to drink in the first week of April.
Proceeds from the beer will go directly to Pravda Brewery to fund relief in Ukraine.
John was featured in the Standard last week, after taking essential items out with his 13-year-old daughter Ellie to the Poland-Ukraine border, following appeals at the Hop Pole in Bromsgrove and the Bull’s Head in Inkberrow – a pub owned by his parents.
He is currently in talks with a local pub group which has 44 venues and, locally, a number of other hostelries will be stocking the Ukrainian brew.
Among them are Bayleys of Bromsgrove, The Weighbridge in Alvechurch, The Bulls Head in Inkberrow, The Bull Baiters Inn in Worcester and The Shovel Inn in Lye.
