IT HAS been a year since the devastating fire which destroyed most of the play area at Droitwich’s Lido Park.

Local estate agent Matt Nicol led the successful rebuilding campaign to raise funds so the town’s children could enjoy the equipment once again.

The drive, initially aimed at collecting £5,000, captured the imagination of the public in such a way that £7,400 was pledged in just a couple of days and it ended up generating £23,000.

And now, to mark the one-year milestone of one of the town’s best examples of its community spirit, Mr Nicol has penned a blog looking back at that time.
