A busy year for Droitwich Spa Community Choir leads to increased membership

Droitwich Editorial 2nd Nov, 2018   0

IT’S been a busy year for Droitwich Spa Community Choir.

Membership has increased, the practice venue has changed, the number of concerts has increased and new equipment has been purchased.

More than 70 singers now take part in the choir’s activities, but more are still welcome: the only qualification required is that you enjoy singing.

This year’s Christmas Concert is at the refurbished Baptist Church in the centre of Droitwich on December 1 at 6pm.

As last year, there will be no charge for admission, programmes or refreshments however all donations will go to the Acorns Children’s Hospice Trust as part of the Choir’s contribution to the community.

The work the Choir does for the community has been recognised this year by Wychavon District Council, the Droitwich Lions and Waitrose who have all contributed to help the choir buy new audio equipment to provide amplification for outdoor performances.

Singing in a choir is good for you! Research shows that just one hour’s singing increases your levels of oxygen, endorphins, dopamine and oxytocin, while it decreases the stress hormone, cortisol, and strengthens the immune system.

You can get all these benefits in pleasant company by attending the Baptist Church at 7.30pm any Tuesday evening. Phone 01905 938165 for details.
