Residents in Redditch and Alcester will have the chance to try ballet with new Silver Swans classes starting in April.
Silver Swans classes have been specifically designed for the over-55s, but whatever your age, if you are looking for a new way to keep fit and active these ballet classes will put a spring in your step.
Classes are open to beginners as well as those with prior experience – so whether you’ve never danced before or want to get back into the swing of it, Silver Swans classes have something for everyone.
Dancing can help improve mobility, posture, co-ordination and energy levels. Most importantly, these classes are an opportunity to have fun and enjoy the sense of wellbeing that dance brings.
Weekly classes will start on Friday 1st April from 10-11am at The Greig Leisure Centre in Alcester, and Thursday 7th April from 11am-12pm at Studio One within the Kingfisher Shopping Centre, Redditch.
Classes are taught by Helena Mitchell who trained with the Royal Academy of Dance and has many years’ experience teaching across the region.

About Silver Swans
The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) developed Silver Swans in response to a growing demand for ballet classes for older learners. Sessions are based upon research into dance practice for older participants from the RAD’s Dance for Lifelong Wellbeing project. This project identified psychological benefits of dance, such as perceived improvements in quality of life, as well as physiological advantages, such as improved balance.
Silver Swans classes are delivered exclusively by Silver Swans Licensees who have trained to safely adapt ballet techniques for older adults.
