BROMSGROVE Rovers will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways when they entertain Beaconsfield SYCOB in Southern League Division One Midlands tomorrow (3pm) after losing 3-2 in an eventful contest at Slough Town on Tuesday night.
John Snape’s side, who drew 1-1 with Biggleswade Town on Saturday, led twice at Slough but ended up travelling home with nothing to show for their efforts.
The visitors got off to the perfect start on Tuesday when they went ahead inside two minutes.
Cameron Jones was given space to cross from the right and Omar Spence met his delivery to head home off the inside of the post.
Danny Jordan ensured the lead did not last long though as he headed home four minutes later but a 29th minute Danny Scheppel penalty restored Rovers’ advantage.
Slough equalised for a second time in first half injury time courtesy of Simon Martin.
A dramatic second half saw Slough go ahead in the 55th minute through Chris Herron before Paul Lloyd saw red midway through the half after picking up his second yellow card.
Despite being a man down Rovers had a golden chance to equalise when the referee spotted the use of a hand in the box but Scheppel blazed his effort over and Rovers’ best chance of getting something out of the game had gone.
CAMERON Jones’ second half goal proved enough to earn Bromsgrove a share of the spoils on Saturday.
Rovers side saw a lot of the ball in the first half but chances were at a premium as both sides tried to get to grips with difficult windy conditions.
Despite dominating possession it was the visitors who created the best chance of the half but James Freshwater fired wastefully wide from close range.
Jones opened the scoring 11 minutes after the restart when he placed the ball past Dean Bull after Lloyd’s fine pass gave him the opportunity.
Bobby Dance levelled matters 11 minutes later when he pounced on a loose ball in the box.
Both sides pushed forward in search of a winner in the dying stages but ended up having to settle for a point.
