Man who raided Spa travel agents jailed

A MAN who carried out a string of robberies including one at a Droitwich travel agents was jailed for seven and a half years at Cardiff Crown Court on Wednesday (January 9).

Lloyd Kieran Jones admitted six counts of robbery and two of attempted robbery during the hearing which also heard how he committed the offences while out of prison on licence for previous robberies.

The 32-year-old from near Neath robbed Thomsons travel agents in Droitwich and attempted a robbery in Hereford in October by claiming he was holding a bomb. He has also committed offences in Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wales.

During the Droitwich robbery on October 10, Jones entered the St Andrew’s Square branch and passed a note to a staff member asking her to stay calm and hand over all the money in the Bureau de Change. If she did not comply, the note said he a bomb in the paper bag in his hand.

The cashier handed over some money and Jones escaped. According to police, Jones undertook the raid wearing a white hard hat, a suit jacket and black rimmed glasses.
