A PACKED out and very vociferous audience at Bromsgrove's Artrix got well and truly into the Christmas spirit on the final night of All and Sundry's annual pantomime, which this year was Sinbad the Sailor.

It was another near perfect performance from the Bromsgrove and Redditch group with solid portrayals from every member of the cast.

Every good panto needs an excellent dame and Mark Clayton was exactly that. As Dame Drachma, he was richly raucous (as all dames should be) and built up a fantastic rapport with the audience.

Another character to get the crowd going was Ali Drachma, played impeccably by Dave Berrisford. He led the chanting and foot-stamping and ensured the piece had copious amounts of audience participation.

Mike Richardson as the landlord and James Ralley as the Vizier added the all-important evil elements and there were some fantastic comedy moments from Emma Hay as side-kick Kumquat, Terry Cooper-Day as Fairy Bold / Surf / Daz and Max Ponsonby as the Bosun.

Among the musical highlights were the solos from Arali McGrath, as Princess Jasmine, in Act One and the duet between her and Sinbad.

There were also plenty of well-known classics that the audience could join in with and singalong to.

The diverse number of dance routines, thanks to The Stage Door Dance Academy, and another great set also added to a fantastic feast of festive family fun and entertainment.

But the highlight of the evening was the scene 'Under the Sea' when UV special effects, luminous fishes and costumes, dancers and puppeteers provided a breath-taking piece of theatre in itself.

It is not hard to see why the audience figures for Artrix's All and Sundry panto are going up and up year-on-year.

The show had everything and the group, excelling itself yet again, took the audience on another amazing voyage.
