A GROUP of teachers and students swapped Droitwich for Delhi as part of a school cultural exchange programme.

Droitwich Spa High has enjoyed a partnership with the Ramjas School in India for six years.

Fourteen Spa pupils, along with four of their teachers, were treated to a traditional Indian dance and took part in a sports festival, including native street game pitthu, during in a week's stay.

Meanwhile, Ramjas pupils took in the sights of the Malvern Hills and enjoyed boat trips on the Droitwich Canal.

And earlier this month, it was the sixth-formers turn as they joined Ramjas pupils on a trek though the lower peaks of the Himalayan Mountains in minus six degree Celsius temperatures.

The students also took part in several fund-raisers to support SOS villages in India.

Karen Moore, Droitwich Spa High School's deputy headteacher, said: "We are very proud of our international links with Africa, India and New Zealand.

"Every year the students involved are always so full of excitement for what is very often the trip of a lifetime."
