A NEW bus service will be launched next September to help Droitwich-based students travel to King Edward VI College in Stourbridge.
The Green Bus Company unveiled six dedicated direct bus services for students to use the highly-rated college from the start of the new school year.
The Droitwich service will depart from the town centre each morning and travel to college via Ombersley, Stourport-on-Severn and Kidderminster, also collecting college students from all recognised bus stops en-route
College chiefs say the service is timed to arrive just before morning lessons and will return on the same route at the end of each afternoon. A Bromsgrove service is also being considered.
Director of admissions at the college, Peter Gray, said: "The launch of six dedicated college bus services for students who want to seize the opportunities King Edward’s offers but who would struggle with the journey to college using public transport
is fantastic news."
The bus will offer students unlimited Wi-Fi access and have GPS devices allowing students and their parents to track the bus in real time using a smartphone app.
Adam Brookes from the The Green Bus Company said feedback from parents across the county had been key in deciding to offer the service. Visit www.thegreenbuscompany.co.uk for more information about the service.
The college has recently-ranked fourth in the UK's top 50 colleges as part of the Sunday Times Parent Power League Tables.
Applications for the college close on February 8.
