STUDENTS from Droitwich’s Westacre Middle School certainly hit the right notes when they won a prestigious prize at Merry Hill Shopping Centre’s Christmas Choir Contest.

The pupils proved they were all singing from the same songsheet as they scooped the title of Best Choir at the annual accolades.

And the award even saw them go one better than last year’s impressive performance when they won the Judge’s Choice category.

The Westacre songsters fought off 100 other schools from across the West Midlands to claim their trophy and £1,000 prize, which will now be spent on developing music and the creative arts.

A Westacre Middle School spokesperson said: “We are extremely proud of our children and their high standard of achievement.

“We also want to thank our choir leader Helen Just and all our staff who worked so hard to achieve this success.”
