POLICE in Droitwich are appealing for information after three German war medals were stolen from a van which was parked on a driveway in a town street.
The medals were taken between 7pm on Monday, October 22 and 6am on Tuesday, October 23, from a white Peugeot van in Corbett Avenue.
Officers are keen to trace the medals which are described as a brass 1939 medal, a 1939-40 winter war campaign medal and a medal featuring a German helmet with cross swords behind which also has a chip in it.
The raid is believed to be linked to a number of similar incidents in the area which has included a sat nav being stolen from a grey Peugeot parked on a driveway.
Damage to the front and back doors of a house on the road in an attempt to burgle the property has also taken place while a grey pin stripe jacket, a wallet containing hundreds of pounds in cash, Hugo Boss sunglasses and a brown wax jacket were stolen from an unlocked Range Rover in the street.
Detective Constable Stuart Mitchinson is investigating the thefts and said: “We would like to hear from anyone who may have recently bought or been offered these medals, as they may be the ones we are looking for.
“A Second World War knife with a dark green handle and sheath was also stolen from the van, along with a Makita power drill, an orange dumpy level and an iPod.
“It’s important we find these items as we believe this theft may be linked to a number of other incidents in the area recently, of which at least three more have taken place in Corbett Avenue.
“I’m keen to hear from anyone who knows anything about these incidents, or the location of any of the stolen items mentioned.
“I would also like to remind local residents not to leave valuables in their vehicles overnight and also to make sure that their cars are locked and secure,” he added.
Anyone with information can call Det Con Mitchinson on 0300 333 3000, quoting 99S 231012 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
