CARING Spa residents are being urged to give a little extra and help a local opticians fill shoeboxes in aid of Operation Christmas Child

Staff from Specsavers in St Andrews Square will collect present-filled shoeboxes until November 16 on behalf of Samaritan’s Purse.

The boxes will be collected by the Droitwich Salvation Army and sent to underprivileged children across the world.

Customers can either donate a filled shoebox or individual gifts, such as a toy or clothing, but are asked to state whether their

gift is intended for a boy or girl and the age of the recipient – two to four years-old, five to nine, or ten to 14.

Store director Emma Singh, said: “It might seem early to be thinking of Christmas but we hope that this gives people plenty of time to make donations for children who don’t have much to celebrate over the festive season.
